SERVICES

PAMP offers a variety of dispute resolution services to anyone who lives, works, or owns property in Palo Alto or Stanford. These services are free, voluntary, and confidential. The program handles approximately 150 cases a year. Of those cases that proceed to formal mediation, approximately 80% reach resolution. Other cases are conciliated over the phone, possibly reaching resolution without a face-to-face mediation.

The most common services provided by PAMP include:

  • Mediation

  • Information on rights and responsibilities for tenants and landlords, including deposits, rent increases, maintenance, quiet enjoyment, etc.

  • Information on rights and responsibilities for neighbors including fences, trees, noise, etc.

  • Palo Alto’s Mandatory Response Program (mandatory tenant/landlord mediation)

  • Fair housing inquiries if you believe you are experiencing housing discrimination

  • Referral to other agencies for housing issues (e.g. legal, financial, senior services)
